Free Range Meat from the Scottish Borders
Naturally reared farm meats from Liddesdale, Scotland
The Liddesdale valley near Newcastleton is one of Scotland’s hidden gems; rugged fells top the wide valley, where sheep graze native tussock, white grass and heather; inky pools form in the peat bogs, curlew, pewit and skylark nest and throughout the summer the air is alive with their song, whilst buzzards wheel high overhead.

In earlier centuries the harsh nature of the countryside gave perfect cover for the renowned Border Reivers; the Reivers were farmers turned outlaws who rode by moonlight, often over the border into Cumberland in the west and Northumberland in the east, droving their stolen animals back along paths which only they could follow across the fells and down into the safety of the Liddesdale valley.
The clash of steel and thunder of hooves is long gone but the beautiful valley retains an almost mystical quality.
At Kirndean Mary and Paul farm in harmony with the natural life of the valley. They believe that free range farming is about relationship with the land and nature, with the livestock and the customer, who in choosing to buy the delicious produce from these well cared for animals sustains this most natural way of farming and shares in the production of good food.
